Manchester United face a tricky away fixture at newly promoted Sheffield United on Sunday the 24rd of November. Sheffield United have been a surprise package this season thus far and are currently unbeaten in their last five Premier League games having shocked Arsenal 1-0 and comprehensively beating Burnley 3-0 in their last home game. A credible 1-1 draw at Tottenham just before the international break is an indication that Manchester United have a real test on their hands and their opponents will be looking to add another victory to their promising start to their season. Sheffield United are currently lying 5th on the league table and boast the second-best defence in the league and have claimed an impressive 17 points from their opening 12 league games to find themselves just eight points adrift of last season's champions Manchester City. This is the first Premier League meeting between these two sides since 2007 when Manchester United claimed a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford. In fact, the Red Devils have not been beaten by the Blades since a 2-1 reverse in the FA Cup in 1993, and not in league competition since 1992 - also a 2-1 loss in Sheffield.
Manchester United head into this fixture having had just two wins in their last seven league games and a less than impressive away record in the league with a solitary 3-1 win over Norwich. City and having lost three away games out of the other five. However, there have been some signs of improvement of late and Solskjaer will be hoping to win back-to-back Premier League games for the first time this season at Bramall Lane. He would not have wished for the Blades as opponents, though, given their impressive record against top six teams this term and miserly defence. Manchester United may find it tough to breach a Sheffield United defence that have conceded just two goals in their last five league fixtures, particularly given that the Red Devils drew blanks in three of their last four away games in the league.
As far as team selection is concerned goal keeper Dean Henderson will not be able to play for the Blades against the Red Devils as he is ineligible to play against his parent club. Injuries have impacted Solskjaer team selection throughout the season and with inform Scott McTominay and Marcos Rojo adding to the injury headache Solskjaer will have to dig deep in his reserves possibly looking at giving James Garner a chance to partner Fred in midfield.
PREDICTED LINEUP
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Williams; Garner, Fred; James, Pereira, Rashford; Martial
PREDICTED SCORE: 0-1 United win
