Manchester United fans have reached a point where they no longer have the excitement to read about Jadon Sancho news and to be fair you can’t fault anybody in this situation because this is getting dragged beyond what anybody would like.

Current Situation of Jadon Sancho

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are nowhere closer to agreeing a transfer fee for Sancho, who is believed to have a price tag of £108 million. It has been reliably confirmed that the 20-year-old is keen on a move to Manchester United this summer and will not have a problem agreeing personal terms. Jadon Sancho enjoyed a stunning season with the Dortmund and notched up a staggering tally of 17 goals and 16 assists in the 2019-20 Bundesliga season.

While it has been reported that Manchester United may just walk out of the deal if Dortmund don’t come to a mutually set agreement. In that event, Manchester United need to move away from Sancho and find out some alternatives for the right-wing position. Below are five alternatives to Jadon Sancho (no order) :

1. Federico Chiesa – Fiorentina

Chiesa had been in scintillating form for Fiorentina

Manchester United should move away from Bundesliga and look in Serie A, specially at Fiorentina where Federico Chiesa plies his trade. A boyhood Fiorentina fan, Chiesa is a replica of Jadon Sancho. Chiesa not only creates goals but also scores for fun. Chiesa notched up 11 goals and nine assists for Fiorentina in the 2019-20 season and is all set for a big-money move away from the club this summer. According to various reports, both Inter Milan and Juventus are keen on signing the 22-year-old Italian winger.

2. David Brooks – Bournemouth

Bournemouth attacker David Brooks could be available for a cut-price fee as Bournemouth have been relegated from the Premier League. According to various sources, the club were interested to sign him last window but felt it was too premature. He was priced at £50 million but an ankle injury has kept him out of action from July 31, 2019 to Jun 19, 2020. He last scored in Bournemouth’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City.

Brooks is just 23 and is very versatile and can play across the front line. He is too good to play in championship and hence United can snap him up at a cheap price. He is a boyhood United fan and if United come calling, maybe he will make the move.

3. Douglas Costa – Juventus

Tuttosport reports that Manchester United are keen to sign Juventus’ Douglas Costa if they can’t land Sancho. The Brazilian started only six league games all season as the Old Lady won the Scudetto and is keen to move for regular football. Costa Joined Juventus from Bayern Munich on a season long loan in 2017 and then moved permanently for £32million. However, since making the move to Turin permanent in 2018, the Brazilian has scored just two Serie A goals and registered six assists since then.

Douglas Costa can be an interesting option but the question would be on his age

But the big problem for United would be his age. He is already 29 and has been in scrappy form is it worth the punt?

4. Ousmane Demebele – Barcelona

Manchester United are speaking with Ousmane Dembélé’s camp, as they might try to sign the 23-year-old if their attempt to land Jadon Sancho fails as per ESPN. The Frenchman is nearing match fitness after a long injury layoff and has been suffering from series of injuries. Ousmane Dembele has struggled at Barcelona, but United have offered £63million for him as per various Spanish sources which is a lot cheaper than what Sancho would cost, and a potential bargain if he can get back to his best with a move to Old Trafford.

His three-year spell in Catalonia has been blighted by injury and Barcelona are thought to be open to offers. It is understood that informal discussions over an initial season-long loan with an obligation to buy were discussed but no official approach has been made yet. Dembele would need to be convinced to leave Barcelona and in any case, United are for the time being still hopeful they can find a breakthrough in talks for Sancho.

5. Kingsley Coman – Bayern Munich

As per report from MEN, Coman could be of consideration as a loan addition this summer in the event of a Plan B should they not sign Sancho. Although he’s only 24, France international Coman has won nine straight league titles across spells at Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich. He won Serie A and the Bundesliga in the 2014/15 season. But he has always struggled to nail down a spot at Bayern Munich but the Bayern Munich management has decided to give him one last chance before he is sold off. Manchester City’s Leroy Sane has been drafted into the squad and that means lesser play time for the French International and hence he could be tempted for a move away from the Allianz Arena.

Kingsley Coman : A loan and then option to buy seems a good deal

United are able to get a loan deal over the line, then this would be shrewd business. Coman is a good player but not the one which United should pay over the odds for His record of seven goals and four assists this season is significantly less than Jadon Sancho’s contribution for Dortmund. On a loan deal, United would pay a minimal fee and cover his wages, but if it doesn’t work out, then he can leave Old Trafford and United won’t have the obligation to buy either. Considering, Coman’s history with injuries its best he is bought after a yearlong loan deal.

These are some of the alternatives to Jadon Sancho but frankly speaking none of them can match the enigmatic or sheer presence of the Dortmund international. As of now the deal looks hard to happen but you never say never in football.
