Manchester United was held by Leeds United at Elland Road.

Leeds United somehow managed to stop Manchester United from scoring this time at Elland Road. The place where it has been a good records for the Marcelo Bielsa’s side in last few matches. There were few chances for the visitors in both the halfs but it was one of those days were The Reds Devils failed to convert the half chances into full. Leeds United again stopped United to get closer to Man City who are leading with 10 points.

If they cost United the last Division 1 title in 1992, it might be an overstatement to say this was a sequel. With this draw it took them to 9th position, a point clear of Arsenal and Leeds United. They would desperately want to aim for European football next year. The records have been magnificent for the South Yorkshire side. They drew against Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, and Man Utd.

Manchester United had enough chances still could not do anything much.

Manchester United created better chances at Elland Road. They came close to an opening goal when Marcus Rashford’s long-range freekick was saved magnificently by Meslier. Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross was wonderfully given to Fernandes but couldn’t utilize much as his shot was wide enough. It was much of a game of tackles rather than a game of attacking football. A contrasting one from the match which was played at Old Trafford back in December. It was an 8 goals thrilling contest between these two sides.

Dan James was outstanding in the reverse fixture. A player like him with pace is generally needed against this kind of team. But Bielsa came up with plan B this time and Solskjaer’s tactics did not work this time. Fred’s through ball was pinpoint to Fernandes who thought was offside, had given the ball to the Welsh man. But he could not able to control the ball. This was another good chance which got wasted.

Leeds went close shortly after that chance when Costa deflected a powerful shot landed on the roof of the net. Neither of the goalkeepers has anything much to do. They failed to make the necessary breakthroughs. It was rather a comfortable afternoon for the defense. Solskjaer feels that his team wants to see a more clinical approach in the final third if his team is to take the next step.

Another clean sheet for Manchester United and Dean Henderson

Despite a draw, United have managed a clean sheet yesterday. With this United has 13 clean sheets in this season so far. The defensive performance has been classy for both teams. The English left-back was adjusted as the player of the match for his brilliance.

The title seems to be over for Solskjaer and he should now focus on the silverware. Bigger matches lie ahead as Man Utd plays next against Roma this Thursday in the 1st leg semi-finals of the UEL and then they host Liverpool at the Old Trafford.
