15 games unbeaten for Ole’s Red Devils as they have kept in the race for Top Four with a vital win away from home to Brighton with a 0-3 victory and their first win away to Brighton in the Premier League. United reclaim their fifth spot from Wolves on goal difference and are now only two points behind Chelsea and three behind Leicester but both teams have a game in hand against West Ham and Everton respectively. A fantastic finish from Greenwood and a crucial brace from Bruno saw Brighton off but how did we rate our team’s performance, see below:
David de Gea – 6.5
Ultimately, it was a clean sheet though there were two chances that Brighton should have done better with. Overall solid performance wasn’t asked to do much. 10 league clean sheets, a late push for the Golden Glove? We shall see…
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8
Very good per usual. Dealt with some Brighton moves on defence, and was a factor on the attack. Nice assist to set up Greenwood for his brilliant solo effort.
Victor Lindelof – 6.5
Did what he had to, no egregious errors.
Harry Maguire – 7
Solid work when called upon, which wasn’t often. Important header to start the counter for the third goal. Will be happy with another clean sheet in the league.
Luke Shaw – 6
Needed the rest but was solid before being subbed off. A few good recoveries, nice moments in attack and got past Montoya on regular occasions.
Bruno Fernandes – 9
Brilliant! The Portuguese magnifico was his usual dominant self. Scored the brace, and did much more throughout the match.
Nemanja Matic – 7.5
Solid as you like, Matic reads the game so well and helped to keep the game calm allowing United to get into the attack. Beautiful ball to Greenwood for the third goal, something Matic has added to his game under Ole.
Paul Pogba – 9
Absolutely controlled the game. Won the ball when it was lost, attacked the final third with world class aplomb. He couldn’t be contained on the attack and a brilliant assist on Bruno’s goal.
Marcus Rashford – 6.5
Some good runs, needs to get back on the scoresheet. Still looks to be getting back to full fitness.
Mason Greenwood – 9
Opened the scoring with a brilliant goal, played a great cross to assist Fernandes’ second goal. Tremendous performance.
Anthony Martial, NR? 5?
Did he even play? United owned the ball and he might have touched it once?
Subs:
Andreas Pereira for Bruno Fernandes (64’) – 5
The good news? Ran long enough for a rating. The bad news? He wasn’t good.
Scott McTominay for Paul Pogba (64’) – 6
Solid shift, nearly scored a goal on a wild deflection.
Brandon Williams for Luke Shaw (64’) – 6
Looking more and more comfortable.
Odion Ighalo for Anthony Martial (78’) – NR
Not on long enough for a rating, but did nothing to hurt the cause.
Daniel James for Marcus Rashford (78’), NR
Not on long enough for a rating, but created two chances with which he just has to do better.
