What a result!
Player ratings:
David De Gea – 11/10
Today he proved why he is the greatest goalkeeper in the world. 14 saves in a single game, no other keeper in Premier League history has made more saves in a single game. Some of the saves he made today were inhumane, therefore his rating is off the scale.
Antonio Valencia – 8
Our captain put in an outstanding performance and got the early goal which shaped the game. He was solid defensively and led the team to a hard fought victory. Couldn’t have asked for any more from our skipper.
Chris Smalling – 8
He repeatedly put his body on the line and was a leader at the back. Very good display from Smalling who many fans were worried about prior to the game.
Victor Lindelof – 8
Another brilliant performance from our new signing. In his last few performances, the young defender has started to show his talent and with many United fans wanting him out already, he has come out fighting with the right attitude, proving that he can be Manchester United quality.
Marcos Rojo – 7
Although it can be argued that he was at fault for Arsenals goal, he didn’t put a foot wrong during the rest of the game. He defended heroically and made several clearances to keep us in the game.
Ashley Young – 9
Continuing his remarkable form, Young was outstanding going forwards and solid defensively. His best moment has to be when he instinctively headed Ozil’s goal-bound free kick over the bar.
Paul Pogba – 9
Absolutely dominated the midfield. He proved that he was the best player on the pitch. He was strong when helping the defence and going forwards, he was another class. Getting himself two assists and dominating Xhaka in the middle of the park, Pogba was the second best player after De Gea. Unfortunately a moment of madness and recklessness means that he will be out for our next three games suspended. Big loss.
Nemanja Matic – 8
He assured Mourinho that he was fit enough to start and how lucky are we that he did?! He was the one putting himself on the line every time and giving everything for this win. His defensive position meant that Pogba could roam forwards and that is what won us the game. Absolutely amazing from the Serbian.
Messi Lingard – 9
What has happened to this lad recently?! He had another outstanding performance and was a nuisance throughout the game. He took both of his goals well and could’ve, and probably should’ve got a hat trick. Although not the most technically gifted player, he always runs his heart out and gives his all to the club we love. What more can you ask for from a Manchester United player?
Romelu Lukaku – 8
Although he didn’t score (again), he had a good game. He was vital in the build up to the goals and showed that even if he isn’t on the scoresheet, he will contribute in other ways. His hold up play was much better and he was useful when counter attacking.
Anthony Martial – 8
His assist for Jesse Lingard’s first goal was beautiful. Another good performance from the Frenchman who is continuing to improve with every game.
