Sheriff vs Manchester United Player Ratings

Sheriff Tiraspol vs Manchester United Summary

Manchester United secured a routine 2-0 win against Sheriff in the Europa League with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho getting themselves on the scoresheet. Despite the win, United have all to play for with Real Sociedad top of Group E.

Erik ten Hag put out a strong United team following their defeat in their first group stage match. The first few minutes were nervy from the Reds, with the home side seeing plenty of the ball. However, after the initial pressure, the Red Devils took control of proceedings.

Sancho and Eriksen got themselves on the ball and United were in full control. Following a beautiful passage of play, Sancho put his side 1-0 up. Eriksen found the Englishman with a delightful reverse pass and Sancho kept his composure to slot United into the lead.

Sancho, 22, thought he had his second of the night, however his effort was cleared off the line. Moments later and Diogo Dalot was taken down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Cristiano Ronaldo put the ball on the spot and converted expertly.

After getting his first goal of the season, Ronaldo began to grow in confidence. The striker was unlucky not to add to his tally in the second half, with some great last ditch defending from Sheriff on display. For the remainder of this encounter, United kept the ball well, but they couldn’t extend their lead.
