Match Analysis: Manchester United created history after a hard-fought win over Wolves.

Manchester United set a new record for all-times away unbeaten run in the English Premier League which is 28 games, crossing Arsenal’s 27 games. But they somehow managed to earn a victory over a tough-looking Wolves side at Molineux. United’s star boy once again made the difference in the end.

Mason Greenwood helped to create a new history for the Reds. His late-winning goal is now his 3rd in three matches. And if he continues his red hot form and I don’t think we need a striker in the near future. He is the man in the making. His clinical finish is far better than anyone in his age.

Wolves got into a positive start with Trincao almost found the net at the early stages of the game. But a decisive goal-line clearance by Wan-Bissaka saved the day from another humiliating start. Later on, Jimenez also had a great moment for his side but eventually, it was another chance thrown away. The visitor somehow clung on until half-time and there was not any serious threat from the away side.

Despite having a healthy possession, United had failed to create enough chances. Their first half was not a joy to watch as the home side dominated the midfield completely. Adama Traore was pretty strong against the likes of Fred and Pogba. Every challenge won by the Spanish the crowds were enjoying and cheering for him. He should have scored or provided an assist as he and Trincao were the best players for the Wolves.

Midfield for Manchester United still looks shaky and needs fixing as fast as possible.

United are yet to face a Top 6 club so far in the season and their midfield is already in a spot of bother. With McTominay injured and Matic dropped as the latter can’t able deal with the pace required against a bright Wolves side. Pogba has to drop back to CDM with Fred yesterday.

Despite a victory, the fans aren’t happy with the overall performance. Though his second-half performance was good when he moved forward. 10 attempted shots with 3 on target are not what the club is aiming for.

With the return of Portuguese sensation, Cristiano Ronaldo who is back at Old Trafford after 12 long years and Rashford returning to fitness, it will become difficult for Solskjaer to select players in the front. Fred could not able to match up with the pace of Pogba and therefore the linkup wasn’t good and lacked creativity. We need a DM who is good on the ball and passing abilities should be great.

The Brazillian should be lucky enough for not conceding a goal for his side. Van de Beek is yet to feature and I feel Ole isn’t doing a great job in not believing in him.

Wolves vs Manchester United preview

A first clean sheet since April and a crucial three points came courtesy of David de Gea. He came up with back-to-back world-class saves to deny Romain Saiss from Moutinho’s corner. In the final third of the game, United found their rhythm back. Pogba’s shot was saved wonderfully by Jose Sa. But in the end, the Portuguese keeper couldn’t able to keep it out when Greenwood hammered it to the left bottom corner with 10′ remaining of the play. Raphael Varane had a decent debut earning an assist in his name.

Now the players will go for an international break and will face Newcastle United on 11th September at Old Trafford and Ronaldo is expected to play in that fixture while Wolves will lock horns with Watford at Vicarage Road.
