Manchester United vs Wolves: Player Ratings

Manchester United once again struggled in keeping up with their opponents and lost after a goal by Joao Moutinho which gave Wolves the win. Here are the player ratings from the match –

Cristiano Ronaldo – 5/10

Had one of the worst games in his Manchester United career. Had a first half to forget and failed to make any impact apart from a goal which was disallowed for being offside.

Edinson Cavani – 5/10

Should have slipped the ball to Greenwood in the first half but chose to shoot from distance instead. Looked a bit clunky overall

Jadon Sancho – 4.5/10

Sancho’s performance for Manchester United feels like a conundrum. At one game, he plays like a natural. At another, he still looks like a new player trying to fit in. This game was no better.

Mason Greenwood – 6/10

Looked more electric on the ball as compared to his teammates. Had a lively performance but was surprisingly replaced by Bruno Fernandes with an hour left.

Scott McTominay – 4/10

After a stunning performance against Burnley, he produced a disaster performance. He was nowhere to be seen on the pitch and arrived on the scene too late to deny Joao Moutinho a scoring opportunity.

Nemanja Matic – 5/10

Produced an average performance and was outplayed by the solid Wolves midfielders. Booked in the second half for tackling Traore and denying him a goal scoring opportunity.

Luke Shaw – 4.5/10

Was sloppy with the ball at his feet and failed to contain Adama Traore when he came in the 2nd half.

Phil Jones – 6.5/10

Phil Jones made his first start since January 2020 and was by far the best among outfield players for Manchester United. His successive tackles and clearances drew cheer form the crowd. Was a little unfortunate to make a defensive header right to Moutinho who shot the ball into the net thus giving the visitors a 1-0 lead which gave them the win. His overall performance, however , ought to boost his performance for the upcoming games.

Raphael Varane – 6/10

Made 2 or 3 great clearances but was guilty of losing possession too easily. However, he isn’t anywhere near his top-form.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6.5/10

Produced only 2 noteworthy crosses in the 1st half. Failed to make any impact in the 2nd half.

David De Gea – 7/10

By far the best player from United’s side. Made 4 brilliant saves including a stunning full length sprawl to deny Ruben Neves’ effort.

Substitutes:

  1. Bruno Fernandes – 6.5/10

2) Marcus Rashford – 4.5/10

3) Elanga – N/A
