Dalot to leave?

After a brilliant loan spell with AC Milan, Diogo dalot is back at training with United’s first team and he hopes to ‘keep developing’.

Dalot’s Loan spell at Milan:

Dalot went on loan to AC Milan on the 4th of October 2020 and has been brilliant throughout the whole season. The United right-back has made a total of 33 appearances and has averaged a tackle rate of 1.5 per game. He was involved in many key interceptions throughout matches and even scored a goal in one of them.

The season for him didn’t end here as he was involved in 2 Portugal squads too.

First, he played every minute as the Under-21s made it to the final of their European Championships, before losing to Germany.

Second, he also earned a place in the Euro 2020 squad as a last-minute replacement for Joao Cancelo, who withdrew after testing positive for COVID-19.

Where will Dalot head next?

With the Atletico Madrid right-back, Kieran Trippier being a possible transfer target for the Red Devils, Dalot might be on his way out and a loan with a buy-out option/obligation to AC Milan being a possible prospect.

According to transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano – “AC Milan are preparing a new bid to Manchester United for Diogo Dalot. Loan with buy option to be offered again – but improving the loan fee, Man Utd want around €4/5m loan fee + buy option included.”

Reports in Italy have suggested that he’s open to the idea of a return to the San Siro.

Dalot himself said of his time at AC Milan:

“I was one of the few AC Milan players who was available for all matches. I met some great people in Milan and it was very nice.

Each season you learn more, not just about yourself, but about life, football and other experiences as well.”

Also to bring in more signings, United needs to sell some players and loan others. The names of Williams, Dalot, Pereira, Jones and others seem to be on the list to depart this summer.

What if Dalot chooses to stay?

Diogo Dalot performed majestically in United’s last friendly against Everton. The player scored a header in the match after replacing Aaron Wan Bissaka at the right back. Scoring right before the end of the match saw him get some well-deserved praise from the fans .

With Alex Telles out injured ahead of the start of the season, Dalot might stay around to cover at left-back even if Trippier arrives.

Will he stay or will he go back again to AC Milan? Only time will tell.
