Do Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams need to go?
As good as United has done to bring in players, the club is struggling to get rid of deadwood. Despite having numerous players on their roster that can generate funds, United summer exits have unsuccessfully raised much money. Other players like Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams need to go on loan to get more game time.
The only players to have brought in any income are academy players Johan Guadagno and Charlie McCann. Johan Guadagno went to Copenhagen with no fee announced and, Charlie McCann went to Rangers for £750,000.
To raise money, United should sell first-team players blocking a path into the team for the youngsters. Players such as Phil Jones, Juan Mata, Dan James, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, and Nemanja Matic come to mind when we think of players that United needs to sell.
To raise money, United are looking for loans. Axel Tuanzebe had been a topic of discussion about a loan move out of Old Trafford. The Magpies’ previous interest died down after the loan fee proved to be too expensive at £5 million.
Aston Villa is also looking at a loan deal for the defender. Should Tuanzebe join Villa, it would be his third loan spell after having five appearances during the 2017-18 season. In the 2018/19 season, he was a vital part of the side that won promotion to the Premier League.
Currently, United has an abundance of centre-backs so it only makes sense that they are looking to shift Tuanzebe out. If Tuanzebe does end up staying at Manchester United, he can learn a lot from star-studded defender Raphael Varane.
Brandon Williams generates interest:
Elsewhere Brandon Williams wants an exit from United despite Alex Telles’s injury situation. The general feeling is that Brandon Williams wants a move away from Manchester United to have more game time. Last season made it clear that he was not the first choice right back at United after Wan Bissaka started most of the games and, Williams hardly ever came off the bench. Surprisingly, Brandon Williams played at left-back two seasons ago.
Williams previously penned a new deal till 2024 as he has plans to be in the United side long term despite the lack of playing time. In this pre-season, he has started all three games and, whether he goes this season depends on whether Dalot stays at the club and if United signs a right back. Norwich has registered an interest in Williams on a loan deal.
