Manchester United will play their final home of the Premier League season when we welcome Fulham to Old Trafford on Tuesday evening. The Red Devils know that three points out the next two games will secure second spot in the league. Whilst Fulham arrives having already been relegated back to the Championship.
We have made progress under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær this season, and we will want to finish the campaign by lifting the Europa League trophy at the end of it. United are four points clear of third placed Leicester City and know a win on Tuesday evening would see us return to winning ways.
The Red Devils suffered back-to-back defeats in their last two league games having lost 2-1 to Leicester City and 4-2 to Liverpool. Both of the defeats came at Old Trafford, which marks our sixth defeat in the league. Following the Fulham game, we have an away trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on the last day of the league season.
Our away form has been incredible this season as we are unbeaten in 18 matches. Whilst all our defeats have come at home, and the return of fans to Old Trafford will give the team a boost.
It has been grim reading for Fulham fans this season as five victories from their 36 matches has meant they have already been relegated back to the Championship. There was some hope for the Cottagers that they would pull themselves out of the relegation zone when they defeated Liverpool 1-0 back on March 7.
However, they have only secured one point from their last eight games. Fulham come to Old Trafford off the back of three successive defeats to Chelsea, Burnley and Southampton. Scott Parker will want to lead the club back into the Premier League at the first attempt and it seems the owners will give him this chance. Preparations are already underway as they look to move players on in the summer. They will want to give their fans something to cheer about in the final two matches of the season.

Manchester United Team News
For United, we will be without the services of captain Harry Maguire and Phil Jones. Maguire will not feature in the last two league games. It is touch and go if he will be fit for the Europa League final on the 26th May. Daniel James has joined the injury list as he expected to be on the sidelines for a while.
Anthony Martial returned to first team training this week after recovering from his knee injury. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær is expected to rest a number of players against Wolves at the weekend with one eye on the Europa League final. It could be a strong lineup against Fulham as we look to build some momentum.
Axel Tuanzebe could be handed a starting place in the centre of the defence. Paul Pogba may drop into a midfield duo with Scott McTominay. This would mean Marcus Rashford plays from the left. Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood are likely to lead the attack as we look to sign off at Old Trafford with a positive performance and result.
Manchester United vs Fulham Pre-Match Press Conference
During the pre-match press conference, Ole was asked about the return of the fans to Old Trafford and the mood / tone given the protests. He said, “Well, we’ve been waiting for a long, long time to welcome the fans back and of course the last couple of home games – especially the Liverpool ones, with the protests… it’s never nice to see a club that is not united, the fans and the team. So of course, we’re hoping that Tuesday is going to be a positive day, that we move together, that we play a good game of football, because that’s my job – to prepare the team, to play well and that they enjoy the day. That’s important now, that we get back and enjoy being together.”
Ole was also how the team is feeling after back-to-back defeats. He said, “Well, I think the previous week, or the last week, has been draining. The season has been long enough so I gave them two days off: Friday, Saturday. They were bright and bubbly this morning, really sharp, and we’re looking forward to the end of the season. We’re looking forward to playing in front of our fans again. It’s a completely different matter and, of course, I think the fans coming in will give this game an extra lift and give the players an extra lift. And of course we’re very focused on securing the second place.”
Fulham Team News
For our opponents, Tom Cairney and Terence Kongolo will not be available for selection due to injury. Mario Lemina will return to the squad as he was ineligible to face parent club Southampon at the weekend. There could be another start for Fabio Carvalho, who scored against the Saints.
There could be a spot for Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has scored three Premier League goals this campaign. He could be a big player for the Cottagers if he decides to remain with them in the Championship.

Manchester United vs Fulham Predicted Lineup
Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Rashford, Fernandes, Greenwood, and Cavani.
It is hard to imagine that this will not be all one-way traffic United and it is just a question of how many will score. Fulham who are already relegated and making their plans for the return to the Championship. If United does take the lead early on, I do not expect us to sit back on this. Instead, I think we will play with a high intensity up until the last 15 minutes or so of the game when we can consider making changes as we look ahead to the game of the Europa League final.
