Manchester United vs Fulham: 5 things we learned.

Fulham played a spoilsport against Manchester United at the buzzing Old Trafford. The passionate United fans were back at Old Trafford for the first time in 14 months. And it didn’t even take longer to make the fans go berserk. As El Matador found the net in just 15′ from a long-range. It was one of those breathtaking United goals which was simply a joy to watch.

It all started from De Gea’s long pass to Fernandes who made a lovely little flick to Cavani. He saw Areola off his line did the rest from a 35 yard. Mason Greenwood had the golden opportunity to double the lead as he came into a 1v1 situation but could not get past Fulham goalkeeper. However, the lead lasted till 75′ as Bryan equalized for Fulham. It was another dismal defending from United.

Cavani saves the day for Manchester United.

It has been a good attacking football from United throughout the 90 minutes. Despite a frustrating draw, Cavani gave something to the 10,000 returning fans to cheer for. His form has been magnificent since the previous International break with nine goals and four assists in his name across all competitions. Yesterday he had 17 attempted passes and 13 successful passes. And the stats show that how a hardworking striker he has been for us since the joining.

Another defensive error lets United down in the final stages of the game.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka should have done better with the challenge. It seems that no coaching staff puts much effort into their defending. There were three back-to-back defending errors in those last three matches. United cannot simply afford the continue those mistakes. The UEL final is just around the corner and Villarreal may tear us apart if we show horrific defense against them in Gdansk.

Bruno Fernandes: A great Leader for United.

Even if he failed to score a goal in his last 2 appearances for United but he was once again involved in the scoring sheet yesterday and also went close to his 19th goal of this season but a wonderful save from Areola kept his team in the hunt. Our Portuguese Magnifico was quite intelligent with his delicate deftest of flick to Cavani and this shows the awareness of every player’s movement on the pitch. And that is why he is considered the most natural playmaker in the world. He was also presented with the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award before the start of the game by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United welcomes fans back to the Theatre of Dreams.

Although the end result could a bit disappointing the football is nothing without fans. Already securing their place in the Champions League for next season and Leicester got defeated by Chelsea later in the night. It means that Manchester United will finish 2nd in the points table. So the fans would not be that dejected after witnessing the game after 14 long months. United has struggled a lot at home this season and winning the silverware at Gdansk could be a monumental achievement for the fans.

Will this be the starting XI against Villarreal?

Solskjaer might be sure that he will be playing McTominay and Fred in the central-defensive area next Wednesday. But however, we feel that squad rotation is sometimes necessary otherwise it gets much more predictable. He could use Pogba and Donny Van de Beek in that particular area. As Pogba has not been that effective in the left-wing for United in the last few matches. This could also give Fred and McTominay a bit of rest as they seemed to be struggling at the end of the Fulham match.
