MAN UNITED V SHEFFIELD UNITED – FIVE THINGS WE LEARNT

Man United emergerd victorious at Bramall lane increasing their away form. They beat Sheffield United 3 – 2. Here are five things we learnt.

Also check out our Match Analysis.

1. MAN UNITED ARE ONE OF THE BEST ATTACKING TEAMS IN EUROPE

When Manchester United have the ball and they get their forwards to run behind, it’s scary. It is literally every defender’s nightmare. Firstly, they have one of the paciest attacks in the world. Secondly they have Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes who can play them in. Man United reverted to a familiar front 6 and it paid dividends at Bramall Lane. That front three has the capability to destroy any defensive line. Mason Greenwood is only going to get better and sometimes Edinson Cavani can be put in the team just to shake things us.

2. MAN UNITED PLAY MUCH BETTER WITH ONLY ONE HOLDING MIDFIELDER

Our best midfield trio at the moment is Bruno Fernandes – Fred – Paul Pogba/Donny Van de Beek. Van de Beek hasn’t started in a lot of games but he hasn’t done much wrong. We always seem to play better when we have one holding midfielder. This is because we are more adventurous when Pogba and Bruno play together. People have been saying that they can’t play together. But that is a bag of nonsense because they proved they can play together after lock down. We may not have Pogba for long and we need to utilise him as much as we can.

3. MAN UNITED HAVE TURNED IT AROUND IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE

At the moment, we can’t do much wrong in the Premier League. Yeah, our home form needs improving.  But I can see that happening sooner because fans may return. Also, Manchester United have proven under Solskjaer that they are a side who likes to go on big winning runs. It’s possible again but it needs to happen soon. However it certainly has been an improvement on the woeful start of the season. We may actually have a chance to be in a realistic title challenge. We have a game in hand and if we win that we are two points off the top.

4. WE NEED A NEW CENTRE BACK PAIRING

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire do not work together and that is a fact. We always seem to shield our centre backs because they are so poor. And for me, its Harry Maguire that needs replacing. Lindelof is just fine and he is excellent on the ball. We just need a fast centre back with good aeirial ability to pair with him. Harry Maguire is not the answer. Another thing I don’t understand is if we paid 80 million for Maguire then why couldn’t we have added 20 million more and got Koulibally instead. He is probably one of the best in the world at what he does. He is fast and he reads the ball well. Add his physicality and aerial prowess to it and we have a perfect partner for Lindelof.

5. MARCUS RASHFORD COMES GOOD YET AGAIN

Marcus Rashford is having some season. He has transformed under Solskjaer and is now one of the deadliest attackers in England. He is becoming remarkably consistent and seems to have fewer off days. Add that to the service he gets from Bruno and we have a great attacking lineup. He contributed yet again with 2 outstanding goals. His pace is a constant threat. If only he can improve his finishing ability to score the scruffy goals, he can be one of the best in the world.
