Who should United sell this transfer window?

Ahead of the transfer window.

Looking forward to the upcoming transfer window, it is a welcome opportunity to offload the fringe players. Resulting in a difference between buying one quality player or more. Consequently, world football is battling the impact the pandemic is having on clubs finances and the struggle to buy players.

Sergio Romero

United’s previous number 2: should he leave?

Sergio Romero joined Manchester United on the 27th of July 2015 gaining 61 appearances and earning 39 clean sheets. Uniquely, having the best clean sheets per game ratio, topping the list of any keeper in united’s history. Approximately he earns £70,000 a week in wages, with just seven premier league starts across three seasons. Originally, asking for 5 million pounds he could potentially move to Leeds or Everton for half the asking price at 2.5 million.

Phil Jones

United Defender: Phil Jones

Phil Jones joined united on the 1st of July 2011 making 224 appearances with the club and netting 6 goals. Jones contributed to the 6-1 victory over Tranmere ending his minutes playing for the club. Furthermore, there is a possibility that Jones could move to either West ham or Roma. Not only will the transfer free up his salary of £75,000 per week but will add an additional 20 million pounds to signing new players if the clubs can match the asking price.

Marcos Rojo

Is it time for Rojo to go?

Marcos Rojo made 122 appearances and scored 2 goals after joining United on the 20th of August 2014. His last outing was a 3-1 win at Brighton in November 2019. For this reason, United loaned him to Estudiantes and there is a chance he could remain there permanently. On the whole, United are demanding an estimated price of 9.5 million pounds for him and he earns roughly £80,000 a week in wages.

Joel Pereira

Joel Pereira and why he should leave united.

He earns a salary of £15,000 a week despite only making 3 senior appearance for the club however, he only made one premier league start for the team . Similarly, in the last six seasons he has spent time away from Old Trafford with the latest club being at Huddersfield which seems like the perfect transfer for the keeper.

Summary of the transfer choices.

As shown above by selling the players that are not earning minutes it frees up the wage bill that then can be used in the financial package to buy players that are essential to add depth and excitement into the squad such as a potential centre half or another centre forward. Provided that the transfers are successfully achieved.
