Match Reaction from The Eagles Beak

At The United Devils, we always have an interest in hearing from rival fans on their analyses of matches against United. Today we have the opinions of Jay from The Eagles Beak on the back of an awful performance for Manchester United as they slumped to a 1-3 defeat at Old Trafford:

“Once again, no-one gave Palace a hope away at Old Trafford and they returned to South London after extending their unbeaten run to three seasons.

This was an accomplished display from a side that are happy to concede possession and play on the break with a number of different fast paced options. United just could not contend with the pace and speed at which Palace broke and after going ahead, the hosts ended up chasing the game.

Even though there was a contentious penalty award, it would be hard to deny that Palace did not deserve all three points to make it an unbeaten start to the new campaign.

Sakho and Kouyate at the back were immense and ably supported by both full backs, but the game was won in the midfield with McArthur and McCarthy doing there job to allow the quartet of Zaha, Ayew, Townsend and Schlupp the opportunity to work their magic.”

Manchester United fans can rightfully slam their clearly unfit players for the shoddy performance on Saturday. However, it cannot go unsaid that Crystal Palace deserved the win and played exceptionally on the counter. United move on to Tuesday night, away to Luton Town before playing Brighton away on Saturday, and will be hoping for a substantial improvement from such a disappointing display at Old Trafford.
