De Gea, Romero, Henderson: United’s goalkeeper headache

Decisions, decisions

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he will not be able to keep three top-level goalkeepers happy next season. “We have Dean, Sergio and David in the ranks but it’ll be difficult obviously to keep three of them at the club. We’ll see what the decision will be there.” Not ominous at all. With Dean Henderson having a great season on loan at Sheffield United and Sergio Romero looking likely to finish off the season playing as the man in goal, who’s to know how things will end up next season.
De Gea may not have had the most hottest of seasons, but overall our defense has conceded fewer goals than last season. While we can point to the acquisition of both Maguire and Wan-Bissaka as the reason, De Gea still held it down for us in the sticks. It is so easy to forget that he has kept 13 clean sheets in the Premier League, being bettered by only three keepers.
“They are three top [keepers] and this Europa League has shown how important Sergio has been for us and David has always been performing. We’ll see what we’ll do going forward.” said Solskjaer. I
t will be nerve-wracking to see who ends up leaving, if it does come to that.
