On 17th July, BBC Sport released an item claiming that Borussia Dortmund were staunch in their valuation of Jadon Sancho and unwilling to move their estimates, regardless of the financial situation.

This was the big headline to hit the news sphere last week, with United facing off against Leicester City on the Sunday knowing that Champions League football would be crucial in luring Sancho. In the update above, we discovered that Borussia Dortmund had set an asking price of “in excess of £100m”, which would make Sancho the Premier League record transfer.
Man United receive financial boost in chase for Jadon Sancho – 27thJuly
On 27th July, the Express revealed that Manchester United had avoided a financial penalty from Adidas, their main shirt sponsor, by finishing in the Premier League top four. Not only do they avoid this, but they can continue knowing that they are in for a major financial windfall following Champions League qualification. The 2020 transfer window is set to last ten weeks, but apparently Dortmund want this transfer over and done with well before it shuts. The news came yesterday, that Manchester United only have until 10th August to complete their deal for Sancho so that Dortmund have time to sign a replacement.

Today, the interest in the race to sign Jadon Sancho has absolutely skyrocketed, with several news outlets claiming that Manchester United have agreed an initial fee of £60m with Dortmund. This will, of course, be followed by add-ons, eventually increasing the price closer to the Bundesliga club’s valuation of the player, but it will be music to United fan’s ears that a fee has been agreed.
