After a disappointing draw but not a bad performance at the Molineux Stadium, Manchester United will host Crystal Palace in their third game of the season on Saturday. Here’s all you need to know:

Teams: Manchester United vs Crystal Palace
Date: Saturday 24th August 2019
KO Time: 15:00 GMT
Managers: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Roy Hodgeson
Referee: Paul Tierney

Team News:
Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah remain sidelined and now Diogo Dalot joins them but the young Portugal international will only be out until after next month’s international break.
As for Palace, regular defenders James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho remain out with long term injuries for the Eagles which means that Martin Kelly and Scott Dann should remain as the starting centre backs unless Gay Cahill is passed fit for his debut.
Interesting Facts:
  • Crystal Palace are yet to beat Manchester United in the Premier League after trying and failing 20 times (L16 D4) and have not scored at Old Trafford since Mason Greenwood was three years old.
  • The last time Crystal Palace beat Manchester United at Old Trafford was in 1989
  • Juan Mata has scored four times against Crystal Palace and is United’s top scorer against Palace from the current squad
  • Scott McTominay is set to make his 50th appearance for Manchester United
  • Crystal Palace have only managed 12 shots so far this season – the fewest in the league
Predicted Team and Score:
As said in the podcast, David de Gea should remain as captain and marshal the same back four that faced Wolves and Chelsea. As said, Scott McTominay should make his 50th appearance alongside Paul Pogba in a midfield two. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial should remain in their interchangeable positions at left wing and forward positions respectively and Dan James should build on an average performance against Wolves as dropping him after one game is not the way to go. As for Jesse Lingard, he had a worse performance than James in my opinion and while his high press and energy are important to the team, against Palace, United need someone to break down the team whilst with 70% possession or more. That man should be Juan Mata as it seems Angel Gomes is not quite ready yet and Mata has a good scoring record against Palace and may take over in the no.10 role.
As for the result, Palace haven’t started well and seem never to do so. Zaha doesn’t seem all there and Benteke struggles to get into the game. Injuries to Sakho and Tomkins at the back have not helped matters and I see nothing other than a 4-0 win for United as long as they score early on, which I expect to be the case.
PREDICTED LINEUP: De Gea (c), Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Pogba, James, Mata, Martial, Rashford

PREDICTED SCORE: 4-0 to United
