Woe is me. International Break has reared its injury-filled head again and although it may be good for some of our players to get some game time, it can be a bit of a crisis considering that we always have one or two players that come back either fatigued or injured. Thankfully this is the last international break for the season, so hopefully after this our players can fully focus on the Premier league and the Champions League. The following is a list of players who will be representing their countries in the upcoming break.

England: With “Mike” Chris Smalling, Ashley Young and injury-prone Phil Jones not making the cut, it was assumed that Luke Shaw would be one of the players selected in this international break. Fantastic news up until he suffered an injury. We seem to have the worst of luck just as things were turning out well. Shaw has been withdrawn from the England squad. Marcus Rashford has been included in the Three Lions squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers, but coaches are stressing over whether he can play due to an ankle injury he has. Hopefully they decide to rest him and give adequate time to recover.

Belgium: Lukaku missed our loss to Wolves in the opening tie due to a foot injury he suffered. Reports are that he has been withdrawn from the squad as he has not fully recovered from the lingering injury. Nothing serious, it is just a precaution to ensure he does not further exacerbate his injury. Here’s to hoping he has a speedy recovery and comes back rejuvenated to tear into opposition defences again. On his day, even his allegedly poor touch will get him goals.

Ecuador: Long term warrior Antonio Valencia has been selected to represent Ecuador in their games against USA and Honduras, in preparation of the upcoming Copa America happening this summer. He has not had the best of seasons, and with Dalot looking like the energetic wingback we’ve been crying for instead of just a long-term prospect, chances for game time might be far and few between. That is if he doesn’t leave for another team as according to the papers. Arsenal and West Ham are amongst a few of the teams looking to sign him after we didn’t extend his contract.

Spain:Ander Herrera snubbed again? Water is wet it seems. Although he has been having the time of his footballing career these past few months, it seems as if Herrera has not been called up to the international stage. Although to be fair it could be due to his injury that he is recovering from, but he deserves to be rewarded for all his hard work. De Gea will at least be the big man for Spain as they are up against Norway and Malta. No call-up for Mata.

Cote d’Ivoire: Eric Bailly, our indomitable warrior, will be staring for Les Éléphants this international break. Having had few chances to shine, hopefully these coming games against Liberia and Rwanda will help up his confidence and fight for a starting position. On his best day there is no attacker alive that does not fear coming up against him.

Scotland: After helping his nation get promoted in the UEFA Nations League, Scott McTominay , Scott McSauce as he is fondly known,  has been called up to represent Scotland against Kazakhstan and San Marino. Here’s to hoping he gets some goals against San Marino. He really shone for us in big games and at such a tender age, we can only hope that he can flourish under Ole. Thank you Mourinho.

France: Last but not least Pogba has been called up to play against Moldova and Iceland in France’s qualifiers. A simple feat for the World Champ. Having just turned 26, he seems to be having the time of his life. All thanks to a shift in management. Looks like we found somebody who can finally “unlock him”. Anthony Martial was also chosen to play but dropped out due to a knee- injury.

Sidenote: Matic has not been mentioned due to him also withdrawing due to injury.
