Manchester United vs Southampton. What We Learned.

Manchester United battled the Saints to the death at Old Trafford with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Southampton. There was a screamer from Andreas Perreia, who curled the ball from distance, and yet another back-to-back brace coming from the big Belgian himself, Romelu Lukaku. Both goals came from his right foot once again and he also managed to score from distance for a late winner against the Saints.

Manchester United came from a goal down, with a goal from Yan Valery that flew past De Gea and a free-kick from Southampton’s own, James Ward-Prowse. But at the end, Man United did what they do best, and came back to win it. They’re nicknamed the ‘Comeback Kings’ for a reason.

But what were some of the talking points though-out the thriller at Old Trafford?

Manchester United V. Southampton. What We Learned.

Andreas Pereria Could Have A Future At Man United After All.

Andreas looked a bit troubled during the first half of the game but it wasn’t until the second half he showed what he could do when played in his preferred position. I’ve never been impressed with him as a CDM but as he made his way forward as an CAM. He showed what he could do as he found himself a curler from distance that sent Old Trafford on their feet. Pereria also got himself an assist which led to United being 2-1 up.

Dalot. Super-Sub?

Diogo Dalot was brought on for Alexis Sanchez after he suffered an injury and as soon as he was brought on, and he made a huge difference for Manchester United going forward. Within about five minutes after being brought on, he got himself an assist and continued to get forward to whip in some crosses for United.

Ole Should Remain At The Wheel.

Ole Solskjaer knows a thing or two about super-subs and he pulled yet another tactical decision against Southampton today when he brought on Dalot and Fred, who both bagged themselves very important assist.

Romelu Lukaku-Back On Fire.

Big Rom netted himself back-to-back braces against Crystal Palace and Southampton this week. Lukaku looks to be on fire again. He has been involved in goals and has been going forward more as of late, with two of the goals today have coming from his right foot. Lukaku now has 12 goals in the PL this season which makes him United’s top scorer so far this season (12) and makes him level with Eden Hazard and Alexandre Lacazette. Not bad for someone who is going through a rough spell this season, oh and he was benched for a while.
