Manchester United vs Sevilla: Match Analysis.

Manchester United have it all to play for in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals after a frustrating draw against Sevilla at Old Trafford. The injury list continues to increase for the club as Lisandro Martinez and Varane are the latest additions. They fall to a late collapse after a healthy lead at the end of the 80th minute. After that, all the drama started for Manchester United.

United though started the contest on a much more fascinating note. All thanks to the man on loan, Sabitzer, who was very much electrifying on the field.

They seemed to be striding towards the semifinal in the first 45 minutes with the way the boys were creating chances. Sabitzer scored twice in a span of seven minutes, the first coming from a wonderful through ball from Antony to the Austrian midfielder who was playing up the pitch.

The second goal came from the trickery of Martial, who was looking very sharp. If the finishing was a bit better then United could have had a lot more. Sabitzer also had a good opportunity to get a hat trick in the 31st minute.

Nianzou was very close to reducing the advantage of 2 goal cushion courtesy of a brilliant save by De Gea, thus keeping the two-goal lead intact.

Manchester United vs Sevilla: 2nd Half Analysis.

Antony hit the woodwork – the closest he came for his well-deserved goal. It could have been easily 3-0 by the first 60th minute. His well-hit curler deserved a better result. The substitutions didn’t work much for Ten Hag last night. Elanga looked a bit off and the absence of injured Rashford left United a bit less controlling in the end.

Sevilla got right back in the tie when Malacia allowed Navas to get to the ball ahead of him, and turned it towards goal off the Dutchman and into the net, past De Gea at the near post.

Another misery came for United when an uncontested header from En-Nesyri, fortunately for Sevilla, deflected off Maguire who could do nothing to stop it and it nestled in the bottom corner with De Gea helpless to stop it as well. This was quite incredible. Sevilla pinned United back at the right time and this somewhat looked like a steal to me. For the fans, this also looked like a defeat rather than a draw.
