Everton vs Manchester United: 5 things we learnt.

Manchester United are back to their winning ways as The Red Devils found the better of Everton in a 1-2 victory at Goodison Park. The win was needed after a 6-3 thrashing defeat last weekend against their city rivals. Antony who is in a promising mood and Cristiano Ronaldo were amongst the goal scorers for Manchester United.

Here are the 5 things we learned.

Cristiano Ronaldo found his goal number 700 at last.

The Portuguese sensational is having a purple patch this season, unable to find his mojo so far. He has been dropped on many occasions by Ten Hag. But Sunday was his day to prove his critics wrong. The former Real Madrid players combined well to give his team the perfect lead before halftime.

That was a majestic finish and his powerful shot was enough to beat Pickford. He started the match on the bench before replacing Martial. The latter had some injury issues and was substituted within the 20′. But his goal was indeed a match-winning one in the end.

Casemiro has yet to find his golden touch for Manchester United.

The Brazillian International may have had an assist in his name but he is still lacking that creativity in the midfield. The Midas touch he had for Real Madrid was really an exceptional one. The taste of the Premier League is looking a bit heavy for him so far.

He has lost possession in the midfield but also won many on such occasions. He won the Man of the Match award but he is yet to really ignite for Manchester United for me.

Antony scores 3 in 3 appearances.

This could easily go as one of the best signings for United in recent times. His 3rd goal in as many appearances. He hit back with a beautifully crafted breakaway goal for the equaliser. Fernandes won the ball in the halfway line followed by a wonderful pass from Martial and Antony did the rest with an accurate placement in the bottom left corner of the net. The left-footed magician may become the talisman in a few months’ time.

Martial’s fitness issue is concerning.

With so limited resources in the forward, even a single player getting injured becomes a worrying thing for United. It seemed that Martial has regained his form again, scoring for his team and giving those breakthroughs when needed. It was the first time that he has started this season.

An important 3 points in the end for Manchester United.

With this win, United are very much in the front seat and is currently aiming to squeeze into the top 4. Chelsea is ahead with an extra solitary point and is sitting in the 4th spot. De Gea had nothing much to do in the entire match but had to hang on at the end to prevent an injury-time equaliser.
