Manchester United are targeting Ajax winger Antony Santos on a fee of within 50m Euros. The Brazilian international was out of action since his international duty against Bolivia. Ajax’s current manager Alfred Schreuder will be missing his service in the pre-season. He is recovering well from his injury and it’s going to be a crucial week for both Ajax and Manchester United.
Antony is an integral part of the Ajax squad along with Sebastian Haller and Dusan Tadic in the forward. Borussia Dortmund is on the verge of signing a new deal with Haller from Ajax. The price won’t be that cheap in the case of Antony. Manchester United have identified Antony as a ‘key target’ The Times reports, but The Telegraph report United don’t want to pay more than 50 million Euros (£43 million).
Why Manchester United should target Antony?
Antony has been the goal scorer for Ajax for the last few years. Eric Ten Hag has utilized him most of the time in the right-wing. But he can also employ in the left-wing too. His versatility is the main attribute ETH wants him on the Man Utd squad. His rise in the Ajax team has been impressive under Ten Hag. Antony has been involved in 22 G/A in his 32 appearances last season.
ETH has already started his training sessions at the Carrington Training Ground. Young guns like Alejandro Garnacho, Alvaro Fernandez and Charlie Savage were seen on the ground.
United are confident about signing this Antony deal. This may take some days but the chance is higher on the United side. He can easily take the role of Rashford who wasn’t in the best of form last season.
