Lisandro Martinez: On the verge of being a Red Devil

Lisandro Martinez has been a transfer target for both Arsenal and Manchester United this summer. Being a dynamic player who can play in multiple positions like central defence, defensive midfield and left-back, he was bound to gather interest from the top clubs.

With the recent turn of events, it seems more likely that Manchester United will be his preferred destination instead of Arsenal, who have had two bids rejected. Ajax has also gone ahead and increased the asking price for Lisandro Martinez amid this interest. The news coming out of the Netherlands is that Ajax now wants 46 million (pounds) for the 24-year-old left-footed player.

United is slow on the transfer front.

With only one confirmed signing this summer of Tyrell Malacia, United also needs to boost their pace in the transfer market. After missing out on Jurrien Timber, they have been pursuing Martinez. He was critical in Ajax’s Eredivisie title win last season. United will try to close this deal as soon as possible and unveil the player. Ajax is still holding out to get the entire transfer amount upfront without any add-ons.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted yesterday that this deal could be done by this Wednesday, and negotiations are in an advanced stage.
