Everton vs Manchester United Preview

Manchester United continue to face must-win games in the Premier League as they travel to Everton tomorrow. Everton are in relegation trouble and in awful form. One win in their last six and red cards and defensive calamities falling around them. Lampard has not had any impact on the Blues and really could be in trouble of exiting England’s top division for the very first time. United struggled to play football against Leicester City and had to take off most their midfield to actually impact the game.

Manchester United must beat Everton if they are to have any chance of reaching the Top Four. Arsenal and Chelsea losing at the weekend helped them desperately and the remaining fixtures means that United’s fate is in their own hands. However, they have to turn up and play well consistently. Something they have failed to do since Solskjaer left. Here’s all you need to know:

Everton

Everton will welcome back Michael Keane and Allan from suspension and hope to shore up their defensive issues with their returns. Yerry Mina and Nathan Patterson are out in defence and Andre Gomes and Andros Townsend will also be absent. Donny van de Beek is unavailable to feature against his parent club. Tom Davies is also unable to recieve his traditionally lenient yellow card due to injury.

Manchester United

United have some major injury concerns but will welcome the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to the starting XI. Shaw is injured after coming off at half time against Leicester. Edinson Cavani remains out and is joined by Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane.

Everton vs Manchester United Interesting Facts:

  • David de Gea has made an error leading to a goal three times in the last four meetings with Everton and was hugely at fault for a 95th minute equaliser last January in a 3-3 draw.
  • Bruno Fernandes has 4 goals and 2 assists in four Premier League games against Everton.
  • Manchester United have not lost a game at Goodison Park since 2019 in a 4-0 loss but that is their only defeat against Everton in the last 14 matches against the Toffees.

Predicted XI and Team:

I expect United to make changes. I continue to be disappointed at Henderson’s lack of playing time and don’t expect that to change. If Rangnick knows what’s best for the team, Wan-Bissaka will play on the right along with Lindelof and Maguire at the back with Dalot an inverted fullback on the left. He would be far better than Telles whose overall gameplay is painfully limited. In midfield, I can’t see Pogba play there yet with Matic a must and Fred in wonderful form. Fernandes holds the 10 position while Rashford has to start with Sancho on the right. Ronaldo will return to lead the line and will be hungry for goals.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Dalot; Matic, Fred; Sancho, Fernandes, Rashford; Ronaldo

I have to back United for a win. I understand that these two teams are trying to compete for the worst form but United have to come out on top. Everton are just terrible and leak goals left and right. I cannot see United not turning up. Not this time.

United to win 1-3
