Manchester United vs Middlesbrough: Player Ratings

Manchester United lose yet another chance of winning silverware and move out of the FA Cup after being defeated by Middlesbrough.

Here are the player ratings for the match:

Dean Henderson – 6.5/10

Had little to do in the 1st half. Did decent throughout. Could have saved at least one penalty.

Diogo Dalot – 6/10

Did well throughout. However, was nowhere to be seen when Matt Crooks scored.

Raphael Varane – 7/10

Varane’s presence calms the defence all around. Created a good link with Maguire and looks well settled in the United.

Harry Maguire – 7/10

A stable performance along with Raphael Varane. Also, put in a spectacular block to stop Andraz Sporar’s shot at 70th minute.

Luke Shaw – 7.5/10

Great performance after his return to the LB position. Played well throughout.

Scott Mctominay – 6.5/10

Competed well with the opposition’s midfield. Functional on the ball and did the passing for Bruno and Pogba to move forward.

Paul Pogba – 7/10

Was the best player on the pitch for United. Clinical passing and great chance creation.

Bruno Fernandes – 7/10

Set-up Sancho for his goal and should have put United back in front but hit the post. However, got tired in the extra-time though.

Jadon Sancho – 6.5/10

Chipped into the bar in the first 90 seconds. However, got his breakthrough after a great ball from Fernandes. However, his performance deteriorated in the 2nd half.

Marcus Rashford – 6/10

I cannot understand the reason Rashford is being played at RW if his previous performances at the position is awful. Denied a goal for being offside in the first half. Got into good positions but never really had the spark.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 5.5/10

A frustrating game for Cristiano. Missed a penalty at the 20th minute and missed a number of chances. Couldn’t do anything throughout the game.

Substitutes:

  • Anthony Elanga – 5.5/10
  • Fred – 6/10
  • Phil Jones – 6/10
  • Juan Mata – 6/10
