Manchester United rise above the triumph as they beat the Hammers in Fergie Time and scored the only goal of the game. Here are player ratings for the match:
David De Gea – 6/10
Had little to do in the second half. A spectator in first.
Diogo Dalot – 8/10
Improved defensively as compared to his previous game. Provided some decent passes and crosses. Was decent throughout.
Raphael Varane – 7.5/10
Looks like he has finally settled in. Made some great clearances and was overall fine.
Harry Maguire – 7.5/10
Looks like the break has helped the captain. Was great 1v1 in the first half. Commanding in the air and decent defensively.
Alex Telles – 7/10
Created a great chance and also limited Jarred Bowen’s run-in. Had an okay game.
Scott McTominay – 6/10
Has really improved under Rangnick . He’s always attempting to pass the ball progressively and played a great part in earning the clean sheet.
Fred – 7/10
Had another great performance and made a great shot. The fact that Areola had to make a save says a lot about his recent performances.
Bruno Fernandes – 8/10
It’s really good to see Bruno coming back to his original form with 2 chances in the first half. The No.18’s workrate off the ball was a sight to watch.
Mason Greenwood – 6/10
Had an okayish performance and drifted deep quite often. Dawdled in possession as he characteristically looked for a shot during the open opening stages of the contest. He really needs to improve on his passing though.
Cristiano Ronaldo – 6.5/10
Had a relatively quiet game given his performances in his previous games. Should have scored that header from Fernandes’ delivery in the 20th minute. Pressed a few times.
Anthony Elanga – 7/10
Had the same workrate as he had in the Brentford game. Showed some nice skill moves and tireless effort. He also struck a volley from Dalot’s cross but his shot missed the target.
Substitutions:
- Marcus Rashford – 7/10
2. Edinson Cavani – 8/10
3. Anthony Martial – 7.5/10
