Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Manchester United won against Newcastle at Old Trafford.

All the Manchester United fans were eagerly and patiently waiting for this day to come. The day when Cristiano Ronaldo would make his second debut at his very own ground. The ground where he spent six long years for Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. The ground where he got all the love, affection, and fame. And made his debut for United 18 years back as a teenager.

And he did once again what he does the best. What he lives for. A dream debut for the Portuguese captain as he scored twice in a 4-1 triumph for Manchester United against Newcastle United in front of the full-packed Old Trafford crowd.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men returned to the action following the international break and welcomed Ronaldo in a grand manner. It was another second-half performance that pleased the fans the most. He opened the scoring just before the cusp of halftime. A decisive shot by Greenwood which was spilled by Woodman and an easy tap-in for Ronaldo to give United the lead.

Though United missed a few half-chances at the initial stages. Varane’s header was just a bit off target and glanced his header wide. Sancho could have done better with his finish but got deflected on for a corner.

De Gea also had a make save from a Matt Ritchie shot while Maximim’s shot was dragged on wide. At the end of United’s first-half performance, it was looking that it was going to be another day where penetrating into the opponent half was looking difficult.

Another second half stellar show does it for Mancheter United.

Newcastle leveled just after the start in the second half. Courtesy of a delicious goal from Javi Manquillo. But just after 6′ from the Magpies’ equalizer Ronaldo once again gave the lead with a superb finish through the legs of Woodman. It all started with the Luke Shaw run who gave a wonderful through ball to Ronaldo who did the rest with his left foot.

Pogba and Fernandes once again linking together in the midfield and the latter scored yet another long-range scorcher to give United a 2 goal lead advantage. He once again showed why he is the best midfielder for United. Don’t forget our unsung hero Paul Pogba who already has 7 assists in his name. The stats are quite staggering and it’s looking to break all the records.

In the final minutes of the play, Jesse Lingard also got involved in the scoring sheet too. And that was some teamwork goal, a group of United players penetrating into the box, little 1/2 touches by Van de Beek and Pogba, an excellent dummy by Martial, and finally, Jesse found the back of the net delicately with a curler.

It was all done and dusted and Ronaldo has lived up the hype on his second Man Utd debut with a brace. With his win, they are now at the top of the table, and now they will face Swiss side Young Boys in the UCL opener at Stade de Suisse stadium.
