Manchester United also has a lot of competition in midfield. Manchester United’s midfield options consist of Fernandes, Pogba, Van de Beek, Mata, and McTominay. The competition in midfield will make it harder for him to get game time. He found game time difficult to find ever since Bruno arrived in January 2020. If he leaves the club, he will be more than just a squad player.

Lingard had a successful loan spell away from Manchester United at West Ham

The 28-year-old completely revitalised his career at the London Stadium, scoring nine goals and grabbing five assists in just 16 games, coming within a whisker of the England Euro 2020 squad and proving he is still a top-quality player. Lingard’s performances ensured that the Hammers got European football last season. Lingard came close to making the England squad because he had game time and great form at West Ham. Without game time at West Ham, he would have had no chance of making the 33 man squad as others would have proven themselves.

Lingard told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he wants to remain at the club and fight for his place. Lingard feels that he can rebuild his career at Manchester United. Lingard requesting to stay is surprising because he has had limited game time.


Lingard should leave Manchester United as it will be difficult for him to get game time at United. Lack of game time at United will cost him a place in England’s World Cup squad. It will be difficult for him to leave the club, given how much he loves United. It seems West Ham are not the only interested club but it remains to be seen if anyone will meet United’s £25m valuation for Lingard.
