City takes the backseat as United’s talk with Cristiano Ronaldo strengthens

After negotiations with Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo is being offered a contract of €28m and the deal seems close now.

The 2021 transfer window has taken everyone aback with some of the most unexpected transfers happening across the globe. Lionel Messi has left Barcelona after 21 years with the club. Sergio Ramos has left Real Madrid after 16 years at the club. To add to this shocking window, Cristiano Ronaldo has also decided to part ways with Juventus after 3 years.

Recent updates about Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer:

According to Samuel Luckhurst,

“Manchester United have submitted a contract offer to Cristiano Ronaldo after he spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson about rejoining the club this morning.”

He also revealed United’s owners, the Glazer family, were prepared to hijack Ronaldo’s protracted move to Manchester City, and City has since ended their interest in signing Ronaldo.”

Ronaldo also talked to Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri and told him about his intention to leave Juventus. Allegri stated :

Cristiano Ronaldo told me yesterday that he wants to LEAVE Juventus immediately. It’s true and confirmed. This is why he wasn’t training today and he’s not available for tomorrow match vs Empoli”

In his press conference, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:

“We’ve always had a good communication [with Ronaldo]. Bruno [Fernandes] has been talking to him as well and he knows what we feel about him. And if he was ever gonna move away from Juventus he knows we’re here.

“Cristiano is a legend of this club, the greatest player of all time if you ask me. I was fortunate enough to play with him. I coached him (Ronaldo) when I got my job. Let’s see what happens.”

Fabrizio Romano tweeted :

“Manchester United are preparing their official contract proposal to Cristiano Ronaldo! Jorge Mendes will receive it soon. Man Utd are “confident” now.”

Cristiano Ronaldo first joined Manchester United in 2003 and scored 118 goals in a six-year tenure with the club where he won his first Ballon d’Or and 3 Premier League titles and a Champions League. He then went on to Real Madrid where he won 4 more Champions League titles and became a further 4 times Ballon D’or winner.
