Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Player Ratings

Image
The game might have ended in 1-1 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday night, but the game was far from it.  A Steven Bergwijn powerful shot which was accompanied by a lack of concentration of Harry Maguire and David de Gea’s clanger. While for Manchester United, the much awaited duo of Pogba and Fernandes turned on the heat as soon as the mercurial French men came on for Fred in the 63rd minute. We here rate Manchester United players for their performance of yesterday evening..
David de Gea – 4 It was a night to forget for the Spanish International and talks have been increasing to sell the Spaniard and retain Dean Henderson. He did no favours for himself yesterday after he made a horrible error for Steven Bergwijn's goal but then redeemed himself from the save from Son Heung-min.Talks about him being dropped and replaced are ever growing.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6.5 His partnership with Bruno was very interesting to see but having said that his possession is loose and didn’t …

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Match Analysis

Image
Bruno Fernandes' penalty rescued a point for Manchester United as they competed in their first competitive football match against Tottenham since the season was curtailed back in March. Though it was not our best performance, we showed promise at times and created a number of good chances but just weren’t clinical with them.

It had been 102 days since we had seen Manchester United in action as excitement and nerves built ahead of the game against Tottenham as we looked forward to seeing Bruno and Pogba in action together, though the latter would be starting on the bench. As the game started, both teams were feeling their way into the game as they looked to find some sort of rhythm. United had made the better start as we were pressing Tottenham back and could have made it 1-0 on the twentieth minute when Marcus Rashford’s side foot volley at goal was kicked away by the feet of opposition goalkeeper Lloris.
United seemed to have gained control of the game but when the first drinks bre…

5 Things We Learned From Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United

Image
Pogba can change a game, but he won’t walk into the team The first big talking point about this game came as the starting line-ups were released, and Paul Pogba’s much-hyped return started on the bench. This will have been a clear message to Pogba from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, to let him know that he has real competition now and he will need to show his best if he is going to secure his place in the first XI.
Saying that, when Pogba did come onto the pitch, there was a marked difference in the quality and variety in United’s game. The link-up that he could have with Bruno Fernandes was apparent from their first pass to each other, which, pending a better finish from Martial, could have directly resulted in a goal. De Gea needs to up his game, Henderson is looming large After some rather high-profile mistakes during the original part of the season, De Gea’s position was one of those that was slowly becoming uncertain. In an article posted by The United Devils last week, there was an argu…

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Preview

Image
The Premier League is back and boy have we missed it! Yesterday Sheffield United travelled to Birmingham and were unlucky to be held to a 0-0 draw after a technology mishap and Manchester City battered a sorry Arsenal 3-0. But today I am previewing Manchester United's return to the Premier League with a debut trip to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and face former-manager Jose Mourinho for the second time since his departure from Old Trafford. Here's all you need to know:

Teams: Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United
Date: Friday 19th of June 2020
KO Time: 20:15 GMT
Managers: Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Stadium: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Referee: Jonathan Moss

Team News:
Manchester United are set to be without defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones but with Maguire, Lindelof and Bailly all fit, this should not trouble Ole for the time being. Solskjaer has stated in his press conference that Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba will feature but not for the full 90 minutes as …

OPINION: How many points will United finish on?

Image
With United's return to the Premier League approaching, we decided to give our opinions on how many points United will get in the last nine games of the season and the total number they will end the season on.

Suraj Shivshankar (@Srj1511):
With the table tightly packed, these last 9 games will be very important for every club as they race for the European spots or to avoid relegation. Luckily, Manchester United have a run of relatively easier fixtures and mostly face the teams that are in the bottom half of the table. However, only 4 of those 9 games are at home which means there will be a lot of travelling which isn’t ideal. But with Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, I expect a solid performance given the seriousness of the situation. I have a good feeling that we can rack up 7 wins and 2 draws which gives us a total of 23 out of a possible 27 points. If we do achieve this, we should qualify for the Champions League unless Chelsea manage to outdo u…

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United: Combined XI

Image
Image taken from The Sun

Well the return of the Premier League is finally here and like many football fans around the country will be glad to see football that we all have a vested interest in make a comeback to our screens. It’s been rollercoaster ride to reach a point where all clubs in England’s top division unanimously feel it’s safe and necessary to complete the 2019/20 season. While there may be some dodgy lockdown haircuts around, let’s hope we see nothing but top quality football on the pitch.

United will have to ensure that their preparation has been spot on as they have a difficult first fixture against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This will be United’s first visit to Spurs’ new ground and they will hope that they can pick up where they left off before the enforced break. The Reds had just started to find some rhythm and form before the break. Unbeaten in their last five games, including wins against Chelsea and Manchester City respectively, United’s f…

The 10 Most Exciting Bundesliga Prospects

Image
First of all, I want to quickly say before you skim through this article that I will not simply
be listing the '10 best' players in the Bundesliga. Even if you have a very limited knowledge of German football, you will still be aware of the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Jadon Sancho, Timo Werner, Erling Haaland and Thomas Muller and I do not want to spend time highlighting a whole list of names you already know. Instead, this article will focus on players in the Bundesliga aged 23 and under, steering away from the names listed above.

Kai Havertz
Club: Bayer Leverkusen
Age: 21
Position: RW/ST/False 9/CAM

Starting off with the most obvious pick, Kai Havertz. The Leverkusen man has gained a lot of media attention recently and rightly so with 5 goals in 5 starts after the restart. The likes of Chelsea, Man United and Real Madrid have all been mentioned and it seems almost a certainty that he will be on the move this summer.

So why is Havertz attracting such attention? Well, fi…

Marcus Rashford's efforts outside football

Image
Football fans across the world are patiently waiting for the restart in my opinion, the best football league in the world. The English Premier League reaches millions upon millions of fans across the globe and is considered to be one of the most competitive and exciting leagues.Manchester United has a proud history and tradition and is currently fighting to finish in the top four to ensure Champions League qualification for next season. As a fanatical football fan, myself the thought of watching the team I love competing again this season is truly exciting and I am confident a top four finish is achievable. But we all need to remember the impact the Corona Virus pandemic has been thus far not only economically but catastrophic as millions of people have been affected and sadly many lives have been lost to the disease. When I read Marcus Rashford’s letter to all MPs in Parliament I felt extremely emotional because not only is Marcus Rashford a remarkable football player, he is some one …

Is Donny van de Beek the one to light up United?

Image
Transfer rumors have been flying around in the media about who United could look to acquire in the coming months. One of the rumors circulating is that of Donny Van de Beek, who is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Eredivisie club AFC Ajax. He was part of the side that had the meteoric run that saw them pip Juventus and Madrid in the Champions League and lose out unfortunately to Tottenham in the semi-finals.
Born in Nijkerkerveen, Van de Beek joined De Toekomst (Nickname for Ajax’s Academy) in 2008 and started his first game for the club in a Europa League match against Scottish club Celtic. Even though he normally plays as a central midfielder, he normally plays a more advanced role compared to other central midfielders. He can play as either a central attacking midfielder or a central midfielder. He has good ball control that lets him escape tricky situations, has good shooting technique and can pick out a pass. His ability to link up play and constant…

Continental XI's: The difficult task of judging Europe's best players

Image
To wrap up our continental best XIs, Arjun and Jayson look at the best of Europe. The talent in this footballing giant confederation made it one of the most difficult regions to find the best XI. As always, we sought to find representatives of five different countries, And selected based on talent, impact at the international level, and how they might fit into a formation.
Goalkeeper: Jan Oblak - Serbia Honestly, I tried putting in David de Gea. I really did. But Oblak has been a monster this season as he has been for the last four years. He single handedly kept Liverpool at bay this season and has been responsible for some crucial saves this season for Atletico Madrid. He has 16 clean sheets in all competitions in 38 matches which comes to a total of 42% of his appearances in which he had denied the opposition a goal. His career percentage at Atletico is 46% with 133 clean sheets in 246 games, inluding 22 clean sheets last season and 20 the season before. Staggering.
Defenders: Aaron W…

Could United look to Portugal to solve their left back issues?

Image
Manchester United continued to be linked with many different players in the transfer market as our manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to shape and develop the squad he wants. Two such players that the club have been linked with are Alex Telles or Alex Grimaldo, who play in the position of left back for Portuguese clubs, Porto and Benfica respectively.
If we firstly look at Alex Telles, who has been consistently performing over the last few seasons for the Portuguese side Porto and had been doing well this season until the football was curtailed because of the covid-19 pandemic. Telles who has been touted as one of the most brightest attacking left-backs in Europe as last season, he managed to score four goals and provided eight assists. So far this season, he has scored 10 goals in 41 appearances.
The 27 year old has an abundance of pace and skill, and with his left foot can strike the ball with immense power. He is also known for his good dribbling skills, crossing and set-piece tak…
