Why fans shouldn’t forget about Victor Lindelof

We are finally approaching the end of the transfer window or by the time you’re reading this, it is the end of the transfer deadline. And fans are outraged all over social media about Manchester United not having yet signed up a new Centre-Back!
Manchester United have been heavily linked with Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld, Leicester City CB Harry Maguire, Baryen Munich’s Jerome Boateng and now even Kurt Zouma. Kinda tell you how this CB saga is going right?
But is it truly fail for the fans to be completely outraged at this? Yes, it is a bit frustrating but even if we do make one of the signings above, have we truly forgotten about our Swedish international.
As we all seen, Lindelof had a good run in the World Cup this summer making it all the way to the quarterfinals. But why exactly can’t he do it for the Red Devils?
Clearly something is up, Victor having only played 29 games in all caps and just only 13 starts for the £31Million CB. But why?
Something I call
‘Lack of faith’
Jose clearly doesn’t show must trust in Lindelof as of now, which is why we keep seeing the detestation between Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, but Jose Mourinho needs to put faith into his young CB, the way Sweden put faith into him.
And I believe the more Jose shows trust in him, the more confident his performances can be for the Man Utd squad. But there may be a bright side to this saga.
Jose Mourinho seems to be still keen on the IceMan as he reportedly blocked an offer from France side, Lyon for a move. Along with former club Benfica who wanted to bring him back on a loan spell. I would assume he blocked these offers due to the fact that he’s hoping to give him more time and a chance to become a player for Man Utd. Hopefully the World Cup run impressed ‘The Special One’ And was convinced not to sell or even loan off the CB.
Partnership?
If no signing does happen, Eric Bailly (if he can stay fit) should be the long term partnership for Victor Lindelof and finally we’ve gotten the pairing in the last preseason game against Germany giants, Baryen Munich. Fans seemed to have enjoyed the partnership although it lasted only the first half and 5 minutes of the 2nd half, due to an injury Eric Bailly picked up (nothing too concerning I believe).
To the time they were given with each other, Lindelof and Bailly clearly showed some solid signs for things to come and can definitely develop if it continues. Let’s not forget the IceMan (Lindelof) is still highly rated as one of the best young defenders in Europe, and if Man Utd do indeed make a CB signing before deadline, and if his name isn’t Harry Maguire, it could possibly be short term. Not saying it won’t be effective because it will. But if you’re not happy with the transfer window thus far, it isn’t all that bad if Jose Mourinho gives us a duo between Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof.
Heck! Some even call it a reincarnation of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidić.
But what are your thoughts on this CB transfer saga at the moment?
